Barb led Jessie to the dance floor. Her heart fluttering looking into his deep blue eyes. Barb thought she’d never feel like this again.
She giggled watching Jessie dance to Staying Alive. It looked like a baby Giraffe trying to take its first steps. She didn’t care. To her, he was perfect.
The two weeks they’ve been going out, were the happiest Barb’s been in a long time. Every day with him was a new awakening.
Jessie pulled her close when the music slowed. The warmth of his embrace engulfed her as they swayed to the beat.
“I’ll be right back,” he said, as the music stopped.
She watched as Jessie scampered to a table in the front of the room. He was talking to a woman she had never seen before. Her heart fell when Jessie kissed her, and they hugged.
Barb didn’t want him to see her upset, and hurried to the ladies room before the tears came.
Just her luck. Barb, again, gets her heat crushed shortly after falling and opening herself up to a guy. She gazed at herself in the mirror, and vowed never to open up to a man again.
