Fire Alarm

The ringing of the bell was the signal that phase one was complete. The fire alarm was the perfect cover. With the building empty, sneaking the prisoner out wasn’t a problem.

I started the car and raced toward the bridge to meet Joey and Sam. They too wanted revenge on Hector for what he did to their parents.

Thirty years ago he went by the name Tito, and was behind some of the most horrendous murders in the city. Body parts were turning up everywhere. But for a lack of evidence, him and his partner were acquitted. And both of them disappeared after the trial.

When I saw Hector’s picture in the paper last week, I knew it was him.

Sam got out of the driver side when I pulled behind his car. His cabin, up state, was secluded and ready for the ultimate sweet revenge.
