Ally turned and caught Jim’s stare. She flashed one of those dazzling smiles that made him melt, and waved him over. In his eyes, Ally was the most beautiful woman in the world.

“I’m glad you made it,” she said, standing up.  Pecking his cheek and giving a friendly hug, she continued, “Sit down. The food will be ready soon, I’ll get you a beer.”

Jim was hoping to get her alone, but it didn’t look like it was going to happen with picnickers all around.

“Nice and cold,” she stepped over the bench and sat facing him.” “How you doin?” She cocked her head to one side.

He let out a breath and nodded, “I’m okay. At least, I think I am,” he sipped his beer.

She brushed the hair from his eye, “I hope so. Again, I’m sorry,” Ally looked down and put her hand on his knee. “But I didn’t have a choice.”

Jim’s eyes pierced through her, “Yes–you did. You don’t………” He pushed his beer away, “Maybe this was a bad idea.”

“Come with me,” she grabbed his hand.

Before he could pull away, she dragged him to the other side of the house.

Ally tightly wrapped her arms around him and passionately kissed him.  “I want you to come to the wedding,” she winked and gave him a wicked smile.

Jim gazed into her eyes for a moment, then nodded.  Returning the wicked smile, “I’ll be there,” and kissed her in agreement.
