The ringing of the phone interrupted my morning routine of getting ready for work. I picked up the receiver. A dial tone was all I heard. I didn’t give it much thought and finished getting ready for work.
The door bell rang while I was eating breakfast in the kitchen. Who could that be so early? I got up and answered the door.
The buzz in my ears was loud and so painful it knocked me back onto the floor.
I woke up in a brightly lit room. But my eyes wouldn’t focus, and all I saw were shadows around me. Muffled voices filled the air.
“It’s okay,” I heard clearly. “You’re almost home.”
