Moon’s Shadow

We were all sitting in the front yard waiting for the eclipse.  I had never seen a one live, and was very excited.

As the moon began to cast its shadow, the one street light flickered.  A few seconds later it went out, and so did the house lights.  I swallowed hard, and my excitement turned to fear.

Sirens blared in the distance.  We all looked curiously at each other and wondered what was going on.  A helicopter was flying overhead in the direction of the eclipse.  A streak of light bolt across the sky followed a couple minutes later by a plane.

The house and street lights came on, and I was convinced we weren’t alone in the universe.
